Vancouver!
Isla’s travel blog
Hello!!
I finally have stable wifi and am able to upload this blog. So i’ve been busy the past days. On the 15th of July, Olivia, Diana and I flew from Christchurch to Auckland, which took 1hr 20mins. We had dinner at McDonalds ( yum! ) and then waited for our flight to Vancouver. Unfortunately our flight was delayed, so we ended up waiting in the departure lounge for quite some time. We were one of the first people there, and Olivia was telling me of how she was hoping that there would be no babies on the plane. We saw 9 babies come into the departure lounge and about 6-8 toddlers!! Man, we were thinking that we were going to get no sleep! But thankfully they were quiet for the majority of the flight.
The flight to Vancouver was my first ever overnight flight, and it was a long 13 hours. Olivia and I watched Divergent at the same time together, and we were quite disappointed to find out that The Fault in our Stars was not yet on the plane :( I only managed to sleep for 1 hour and a half due to being uncomfortable and constant noise. We arrived at Vancouver at 3pm local time, and met Diana’s, fathers, aunty who we stayed with. It was so super hot when we arrived, it was 25 degrees!
She took us straight home, to her beautiful blue, two story house. We went for a walk around Vancouver and then for dinner went to the best pizza place I have ever been to, it was so delicious I wish we had that pizza in NZ. It is cooked in a pizza oven with ingredients imported from Italy!! Later that night it was 27 degrees, so I didn’t get much sleep.
The next day, Karin took us to Granville Island where it was so tempting to buy things, but I didn’t have any Canadian money. Then we went to Stanley Park where we visited the Aquarium and then.... we went to the most amazing place..... it is an ice cream parlour with 218 different flavours!!!!! It was understandingly hard to choose a flavour, but eventually both Olivia and I decided on Cotton Candy ( which was a bold, bright blue ) and nutella!!
We both ended up with blue lips and blue tongues haha.
I am now in the Vancouver airport, waiting to fly to Munich!! So excited but naturally a bit worried about speaking no german haha.
Dinner in Vancouver.
Olivia and I with our Nutella and Cotton Candy ice creams! Sorry about the blur.

Hey Isla Sol here, Mark showed the class your blogs and i looks like your having an awesome time!! Germany will be a buzz with FIFA etc... Our bridge is looking great and it seems to be strong. Jet lag would have been annoying but the experience should be worth it. Have a sweet time!
